Qualifying packs receive a streamer for their pack flag. Boys who participate in all three pack events are eligible to receive the National Summertime Pack Award pin, which they can wear on the right pocket flap of their uniform.

The purpose of the National Summertime Pack Award is to encourage packs to provide a year-round program by continuing to meet during the time periods when school is out of session for several weeks or months.

GOOD TURN UNIT award recognizes packs that participate in Scouting for Food.

Scouting for Food is the largest one-day food drive in the country. Each year, our scouts, leaders and parents collect approximately two million items that will serve 400 pantries within the Greater St. Louis Area Council. This food will meet a four-month demand for food in our area.

Qualifying packs receive a streamer for their pack flag.

BEACON AWARD i
s presented to Scout units who enhance the image of Scouting in the community,  limited to one award per unit, per year.

"On June 12th 2008, an Iowan Boy Scout camp was ravaged by a tornado and several Boy Scouts lost their life. At the same time at another campsite a Cub Scout by the name of Christopher Corriveau was also threatened by a similar weather event at their campsite. Christopher, his mother, brother and others were rushed into a narrow cave-like opening where they stood, in their words, in "ice cold" water for 45 minutes until the all clear was given and they packed up their site and started heading for home.

While Christopher’s family was packing things away, they listened to the Boy Scout tragedy in Iowa. Christopher asked his mom if he could do something to help out the Boy Scouts and she gave him the nod yes!

Christopher put on his Cub Scout shirt, grabbed a canister and started collecting money to help out the Boy Scouts in Iowa. With each person he came in contact with he would explain his purpose and that weekend he collected $50.00.

By the time Christopher's family had returned to St. Louis, Christopher had collected over $248.00 from places they had stopped to eat or gas up on their return trip."

COMMUNITY THANK YOUs
As part of the Pack's October 2008 pack meeting, all were asked to bring in new and/or gently used books to donate to the Family Resource Center.  Of course, we out did ourselves and Dr. Nash had to make 2 trips in order to deliver all the books to the Center.  Click here to see the Family Resource Center Thank You Letter.

Dear Anne and members of Cub Pack 214,

Thank you!  Thank you so much for your 2008 donation of children’s items from our wishlist.  Gifts such as yours allow us to provide a safe, warm and loving environment for children at-risk of abuse or neglect.  More than 500 children each month are welcomed through the doors of the five Crisis Nurseries across the region.

"May happiness touch your life today
as warmly as you have touched the lives of others."
-Rebecca Forsythe

The Crisis Nursery directly focuses on the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Families reach out for help because of overwhelming parental stress, parental illness/death, lack of utilities/food/shelter, domestic violence or a drug/alcohol related crisis.  We are able to be there 24/7 for disadvantaged families reaching out for help because of the generosity of people like you – THANK YOU!
Thank you, again, for caring about the children of the Crisis Nursery!
With Gratitude,
Laura D. Coatney, MSW
Development Director
